Doin two at once because I don't have much to say about either of these.
Joplin
I heard a lot of good things about Joplin and to be honest I wasn't disappointed. It's got a nice open source license and no faff of any sort. It's just plain good and a must have if all you want to do is take notes. It has an Android app and built-in note syncing (or you can use Dropbox if I'm not mistaken. It's markdown-based, which I liked, although I'm not a super big fan of the implementation (where there are distinct view and edit modes), but it's not that big of a deal. I really don't have any complaints >w<
The looks
I'll be honest I think Joplin looks kind of ugly, and some UIs may be kind of confusing but it could just be me. It's not an eyesore or anything but I personally don't find it super-pleasing to look at.
Zettlr
Bet you've never heard of this one, I love niche programs!!
Zettlr is very similar to Joplin, although I'm a bigger fan of it's UI and UX. It's faster than both Joplin and Logseq, notably so, it's markdown-based, awesome, and I want to note its implementation of LaTeX is very very nice to use. It's not all perfect though. Its page storage system is extremely simplistic, somehow more than Joplin's, which makes me fear it might become slow once you start adding too many pages. Moreover, it also had issues with deleting pages, where it wouldn't properly do so when I tried. It's not great but it can hold its own against Joplin. It's also got a "typewriter" input mode which I enjoy using.
The looks
I think Zettlr looks really good, better than Jopling, although its UI can act a little funny at times. Nevertheless I found it nicer to look at than Joplin. I don't have much else to say lol and I forgot to take pictures.
